She writes :
6) Keep It Professional
Professional photographs are necessary. Invest in professional photographs. Elaborate over the top photos are not necessary. In fact most agencies, like natural and simple photos that show you at your raw state. When it comes to photos, less is more. Within your portfolio, make sure to include a headshot, a full body shot that shows your figure in a classic yet stylish outfit. Also keep your makeup to a minimum and your hair in its natural color. Let the real you shine through!
5) Research, Research, Research
You can’t succeed in an area if you know nothing about it. Researching the plus model industry and all it entails is essential to your success. Prepare for your career in the plus model industry as you would prepare for your dream job interview. Know the ins and outs of the business and remember that it is just that…a “business.” Things are constantly changing so the more prepared you are, the greater your chances are of being successful. Select one of your favorite models and learn everything you can about how they achieved their success. Implement those methods into your own journey but don’t simply duplicate, make them your own.
4) Attitude is Key.
As the old saying goes, “your attitude determines your altitude.” Positive thoughts reap positive outcomes. Negative thoughts keep you bound. So no matter what obstacles you face on your journey to becoming a plus model, remember to remain positive and focused on your ultimate goal. If you maintain a winner’s mindset, you will keep going even when it seems like nothing is happening. You can’t carry a defeated attitude and expect to win. Competition is fierce in the plus model industry and you will have many doors closed in your face before you get a yes. A positive mindset and a persistent attitude will help you get past the no’s until you get a yes. A positive attitude creates a positive outlook which exudes from you and cause other’s to see the best in you!
3) Be a Risk Taker
If you’re afraid to fail then you’ll never know what success feels like. The plus model industry is highly competitive and everyone will be watching. Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone but do so within reason. Be unafraid to show who you are but also remember that your work is speaks for you and keep that in perspective.
2) Be Persistent.
There are a thousand no’s for every yes. The key to getting to the yes is to look at each no as bringing you one step closer to your yes. Are you willing to face rejection? Are you willing to be told that you don’t’ have the right look? Or that you’re just not what the company is looking for? Self-confidence plus perseverance are essential to propel you towards the “yes.”
1) Keep God First
“In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3:6) This has been the key for me because if God didn’t bring you to it then how do you expect Him to see you through it. I believe that the dreams that are in our hearts are there because God has allowed them to manifest. If we allow Him to lead us there is no way that our steps can be misguided. My journey as an aspiring plus model has been very short lived but because of God I have seen what I believe to be great advancement. It seems as though each time I think this is not where I’m supposed to be, He opens a door and shows me that I am right where He desires me to be. I don’t know what’s in store for me but I know who holds the key to my destiny.
You’re too kind
It beats me ^_^ , glad you finally did
My advice to you if you’re interested in modeling is to start by building your portfolio (i.e ) doing photo shoots with professional photographers , attend model castings and runway classes ,you can also start by networking at fashion events .
But before you do all of that do your research in which area of modeling you may want to do and yes they are different types of modeling.Print, high fashion ,glamour, commerical and runway/fashion show modeling are just a few that come to mind at the moment.
Lastly just remember that the world was not build in one day , it’s going to take time to grow so at all times be patient . I do hope my little information may aid you in some way and if they are any more questions feel free to ask.
Do enjoy the rest of your day Queen xoxo
